Edit: Sadly my computer hates me, and I haven’t been able to get on. Also, since the chat was never all that popular, the whole meet and greet thing with Eef kinda died down. Sorry guys!

Ok, am I an idiot, or is there something going on with the chat room?  I tried to get in several times, and each time it just sits there saying “Connecting…”  I’m on Firefox, if that helps.  I first tried joining with username and a password, then tried without a password, and then I tried leaving it at the default “Guest” username.  None of these options are pleasing the webchat gods.  I even cleared my cookies, closed the browser, and tried again.  Nothing. :/

I blame Firefox. Try with a different browser and see if it works.

It is a flash based chatroom. DO you have the most recent version of Flash, if at all?

It looks like Internet Explorer doesn’t work, either.  I have the latest version of Flash installed.

Am I the only one who can’t get into chat?  I’ve tried both at home and at work and neither one is working. :/

I think you might be…I can get in perfectly fine.

I can get in using Google Chrome. I haven’t tried with any other browsers.

Chrome is fine here too.

What version of firefox do you have?

Back at work.  Downloaded Google Chrome.  Still just giving me the “Connecting…” screen.

The Firefox version I have at work is 3.6.8.

I am utterly stumped.  I looked at the support forum, and it looks like there are several other people in the same boat I am.  The same fixes keep being repeated, but none of them are working. 

The only other thing I can think of is uninstalling and reinstalling Flash…but that doesn’t seem to work for people, either.  Guess I’ll give it a try, though!

EDIT TO ADD:  Flash uninstall/reinstall did not work.

I think the issue is the Firewall blocking the program.  I added port 6667 and 7000.  I ran a check and the computer was a-ok with port 7000, but does not like 6667.  If anyone has any ideas or is tech savvy enough to help me figure out why the 6667 port is angry, I would be most appreciative!

I looked in to their support forums and someone else was having the same problem. One of the suggestions was to delete the flash cache via this link: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

I’ve tried that flash clearing multiple times, with no success, sadly.

From what I can tell, ports 6666, 6667, 6668, and 6669 are all blocked somehow. I went into my Firewall settings and set them as port exceptions for irc.everywherechat.com, but it’s not working.  I haven’t done any port stuff in a long time…do I need to restart my computer for the new port settings to take effect?  Or just close the browser?

I’ll try doing the port changes on my home computer, too, to see if it works there.

Rebooting the computer is always a good method to see if something will work, so go for it.

If more people don’t come into the chatroom RIGHT NOW, answerman and I will begin chopping some heads off!
